At the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games, badminton brothers Razif Sidek and Jalani Sidek made history by winning bronze in the men’s doubles. It was a breakthrough that officially placed Malaysia among Olympic medal-winning nations.

The 1992 Games were particularly significant because badminton made its debut as an official Olympic medal sport.
Razif and Jalani entered the tournament carrying Malaysia’s hopes and fought their way to the semi-finals. Although their campaign ended against eventual champions Park Joo-bong and Kim Moon-soo of South Korea, the Sidek brothers secured the bronze medal.
That bronze became Malaysia’s first Olympic medal, creating a milestone that would forever be remembered in Malaysian sports history.
