Malaysia returned from Rio with five Olympic medals : four silver and one bronze, making it one of the nation’s most memorable Olympic campaigns.
But beyond the medal count, Rio 2016 gave Malaysians something even more powerful: moments when an entire country believed together.
A Historic Olympic Campaign for Malaysia
Malaysia’s success came across badminton, diving and track cycling.
Lee Chong Wei claimed silver in men’s singles badminton, while Goh V Shem and Tan Wee Kiong secured silver in the men’s doubles. Chan Peng Soon and Goh Liu Ying added another silver in mixed doubles.
In diving, Pandelela Rinong and Cheong Jun Hoong won silver in the women’s synchronised 10m platform, while Azizulhasni Awang earned bronze in the men’s keirin.
Different athletes. Different sports. One flag.
For Malaysians watching at home, every match, dive and race became more than a competition. It became a reminder of what Malaysian athletes can achieve on the world stage.
